Dendera temple is about 65 km far from Luxor, it is the best-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to the caw goddess Hathor. the goddess of motherhood, she is the mother of the gods and kings of ancient Egypt, the temple was built during the grego-roman period in Egypt around 237BC.
Queen Cleopatra with Julius Caesar were depicted at the back wall of the temple and the famous zodiac is covering the temple ceiling, it is fascinating piece of ancient astronomy, Ancient Egyptians believe that the sky goddess nut swallows the sun disk every evening and giving birth to it every morning.
I will pick you up from your hotel in Luxor by private vehicle to travel about 65 km to Dendera, we will go through local villages and sugar cane fields, when we arrive there, we will see the sacred like and mammisi (birth house) ,we will see the famous figure of queen Cleopatra ,we will enjoy seeing the famous astronomical scenes covering the whole ceiling of the temple ,there are many crypt in Dendera, we can visit one of them with extra charge ,on the roof top is the room which contain the replica of the most famous zodiac ,the original one was moved to lover museum in Paris.
